(twenty-fourth night); tired to sleep, but could not, at 9 A.M.

(twenty-fifth day). To bed at 12.45 A.M.; no sleep took a dose; soon fell asleep, but awoke after one hour; fell asleep again; slept to 4.45 A.M. (twenty-sixth day). Awoke twice during the night (thirty-first day); drowsy, at 9 A.M. (thirty-second day); great and continued drowsiness (thirty-third day). Sleepless from 12 to 2.30 A.M. (thirty-third night); disturbed sleep (thirty- fifth night). Have not felt the want of afternoon sleep, at 11 P.M.; no desire to sleep these thirteen hours (thirty-third day); no inclination for afternoon sleep (thirty-fourth day). Could not sleep the first part of the night, and latter part only at intervals, with the headache (twelfth day); the sleeplessness, with the distress of head, recurred once a week for last;month or more (sixty-first day). Stupid sleep (seventh night). Latter part of the night sleepless; mind working on business problems (sixth night). Wakefulness following emission, at 4 A.M. (third day).

Was wakeful after the emission until I got up for breakfast (fourth day); restless sleep during after part of night (tenth night). Sleep heavy, with dreams disturbing but unremembered (ninth night). A horridly unnatural and amorous dream resulted in a seminal emission, about 3 A.M., which was so large that the passage of it through the urethra caused pain enough to awaken me; penis erect; sensation of sickness, shame (twelfth night); nocturnal emission in less degree (twentieth and twenty-ninth days). Active vivid dreams, after part of night, alternated with half conscious waking; usually dream a good deal, but not like this; dreams unremembered, except the following: Dreamed I was proving a remedy, which produced severe frontal headache, sore throat, especially on the right side; could not swallow; saliva was acid and intensely smarting; in my dream was generally looking over the system for symptoms to record; on awaking, found that my suffering about the throat was all a dream, though so intensely real that I could hardly believe that my throat was not sore (seventh night). Dreamed of fighting several unknown gents; left them to follow an unknown female, and when she left me, found she had conducted me to a prayer-meeting, which must have changed to a restaurant, for I ordered a Hamburg beefsteak, but awoke before it was served (third afternoon); varied and exciting dreams with the fragmentary sleep, from 12.30 to 4.20 A.M.

(fourth night); curious, nonsensical, wild dreams (fifth night); dreamed of a great fire; heard the noise of the engines and the firemen, the order to come down in a hurry, as the roof was going to fall in; was them coming down; heard and saw the crash; dreamed that I was awakened, when, to my consternation, I found it to be the immensely large hotel in which I lived which was on fire; my room was just a few feet outside the part that had been burned down; made hasty arrangements to have everything belonging to me gathered up to move; sent out to find a fitting place for an office; was stopped by an unknown gentleman in an open carriage, who wanted me to go a little up the country where he said it would pay well, but I turned away from him to find another place; I awoke from the dream at 5.30 A.M. (twelfth night); amorous dreams (fourteenth night); at 2 P.M., have had dreams of traveling by railroad (fifteenth day); dreamed of fighting (orally) for liberty, and of giving a surprise party to a friend in his own house; took dinner with him; enjoyed a roast excessively (thirty-third night).

Fever

8 P.M., for last few hours feel chilly (thirty-fourth day). Flush of heat all over the body (soon, first day). Feverish heat, at 9 A.M. (twenty-fifth day). This evening, feel a warm glow over all the upper part of the body, as of slight fever, but no marked increase of heart action (third day). Feverish feeling in face and hands, especially left hand (tenth day). A flush of heat in both cheeks (after first dose, second day). Feverish heat in left ear flap and left hand (second day); flushing heat of left hand and ear less strong than yesterday (third day). Flush in left hand and ear (fourth day). Heat of left ear and hand continues (seventh, eighth, eleventh and twelfth days). Heat in left hand, fingers, and ear, at 10 A.M. (twenty- second day). Heavy perspiration, with the great dryness of mouth, on waking form afternoon nap (third day).

Conditions.-

Aggravation.

(Morning), Worn feeling in the brain; 9 A.M., colic; pain in lower part of the right calf; worn and tired feeling; 9 A.M., heat.

(Afternoon), Frontal headache; soreness in back; on waking from nap, perspiration and dryness of mouth.

(Evening), Frontal headache; 7 P.M., fullness in face; sensation of going to have a stool; 8 P.M., chilliness.

(After bathing), Pain in calves.

(Before meals), Sour eructations.

(Moving head), Vertigo.

(Moving), Pain in great toe.

(Pressure), Pain in back; pain in joint of thumb.

(Reading), Frontal headache; pain along line of optic nerve.

(Remaining in one position), Pain in head.

(When sitting), Pain in right instep.

(Thinking), Frontal headache.

(While urinating), Burning in urethra.

(When walking), Pain right groin; pain in knee, (When writing), Pain in wrist.

Amelioration

(Open air), The symptoms.

(Closing eyes), Dizziness.

(Eructations), Feeling at throat-pit.

(Mental effort), Headache.

(Motion), Pain in head; colic; pain in right instep; the symptoms.

(Pressing stomach against edge of table), Crampy pain.

(Rest), Tired feeling.
