Oniscus homeopathy medicine – drug proving symptoms from Encyclopedia of Pure Materia Medica by TF Allen, published in 1874. It has contributions from R Hughes, C Hering, C Dunham, and A Lippe….


  Common names: Sow-bug; (Fr.), Cloporte or Porcelet.

Introduction

Oniscus asellus, Linn., and O. armadillo, L. (Armadillo officinalis, Cu.). Order, Isopoda. Class, Crustacea of the articulate animals.

Preparations: Tincture of the living animals. (* See valuable article on chemical analysis, medical history, etc., of these animals, by Dr. Mehu, Bull. Gen. de Therap., 93, p. 304, 1877. *).

Head, Face and Mouth.

Dull heaviness of the head. Boring pain behind the right ear, on the mastoid process, with violent pulsation in the arteries.

Painful pressure above the eyebrows and on the margin of the nose, first on the left side, afterwards on the right. Pale face, wild expression. (The toothache that had disappeared returned).

Pressure on the soft palate posteriorly, as if it would close.

Stomach and Abdomen

Thirst. Somewhat nauseated, followed by persistent pressure, as if in the cardiac orifice of the stomach. Continual vomiting.

Very severe colic, with meteorism and tension of the abdomen.

Rectum and Anus.

(Sudden desire for stool, followed by sudden thin stool). Burning pain in the anus.

Urinary and Sexual Organs

Tenesmus of the bladder and rectum, with absence of stool and urine. Cutting burning in the urethra, with excessive bodily restlessness. Many erections, with disinclination to work.

Respiratory organs

The mucus hawked up is streaked with blood.

Generalities and Sleep.

In young patients an hemoptysis is induced by the salt with which these insects abound. Inclination to stretch. Frequent yawning.

Dr. Timothy Field Allen, M.D. ( 1837 - 1902)

Born in 1837in Westminster, Vermont. . He was an orthodox doctor who converted to homeopathy
Dr. Allen compiled the Encyclopedia of Pure Materia Medica over the course of 10 years.
In 1881 Allen published A Critical Revision of the Encyclopedia of Pure Materia Medica.
