(Atrophoderma; Atrophy of the Skin)
Definition. – A cutaneous condition characterized by a diminution or degeneration of the component structures of the skin.
Atrophic changes of the skin may be idiopathic or symptomatic, general or limited, rapid or gradual in development and may follow other pathological conditions or be coexistent with them. The following varieties will be briefly described: senile atrophy, atrophic lines and spots, glossy skin and diffuse idiopathic atrophy.
