      Chromate of Lead. Chrome Yellow. PbCrO4. Trituration.

Clinical

Colic. Convulsions. Cramps. Diarrhoea. Dysphagia. Erythema. Screaming. Tenesmus.

Characteristics

Several cases of poisoning by Chrome Yellow have been observed. The symptoms present the cardinal features of lead poisoning cramps, convulsions, retracted abdomen. Characteristic features were a violent diarrhoea of yellow colour. Yellow stools with constipation. Convulsions with terrible pains. Erythematous redness of chest and abdomen. Pupils enormously dilated. The face was red and hot, and there was heat of the body generally. The symptoms were worse towards evening. Better by drinking warm milk.

SYMPTOMS.

Mind

Apathetic, but when questioned knew what was going on around. Apathetic, almost soporous.

Head

Headache with ringing in ears, pains in chest, loss of appetite, inclination to vomit.

Eyes

Pupils enormously dilated. Eyeballs fixed, staring.

Ears

Ringing in ears with headache.

Face

Face pale. Face red and hot. Face livid during convulsions. Expression of most profound prostration. Lips violet. Lips dry. Jaws firmly closed.

Mouth

Tongue coated yellow. Point of tongue red. Bad odour from mouth.

Throat

Swallowed with difficulty, shortly before death.

Stomach

Appetite lost. Great thirst. Nausea and vomiting. Softening of coats of stomach. Pain in epigastric region.

Abdomen

Abdomen hard and forcibly retracted. Pain in umbilical region. Violent cramps in abdomen with constipation.

Stool

Violent diarrhoea. Yellow diarrhoea. Constipation with yellow faeces. Constipation.

Respiratory Organs.–

Respiration short, laboured.

Chest

Pain in chest. Redness of chest and abdomen.

Heart

Pulse tumultuous. Pulse irregular and intermittent.

Back

Pain in spine.

Generalities

Frequent convulsions, during which face becomes livid. Frequent screaming. Convulsions with terrible pains. Prostration. Restlessness.

Skin

Skin of chest and abdomen remarkably erythematous.

Sleep

Sleeplessness.

Fever

Whole body hot.
