      Prickly Ash. Rutaceae.

Mind

      Nervous, frightened feeling.

Depression and weakness.

Inner Head

      Dullness. Bewilderment; pain in back of head.

Throbbing headache; over right eye, with nausea.

Pain over the eyes with throbbing above root of nose.

Aching and flashes of throb-like pain as if top of head was about being taken off.

Tightness of the scalp;.

Nose

      Right nostril seems filed up. Discharge of mucus, of dry and bloody scales.

Mouth

      Peppery taste in mouth, fauces and throat.

Throat

      Peppery sensation; soreness, with expectoration of tough mucus.

Feeling of a bunch in left side of throat when swallowing, shifting to right.

Desires Aversions

      No appetite.

Nausea and Vomiting

      Sense of oppression at stomach; frequent chills :.

Stomach

      Feeling of fullness on pressure. Fluttering.

Stool etc.

      Griping pains A.M., with thin, brown stools, mixed with mucus.

Urine

      Profuse, light colored urine : nervous women.

Female Sexual Organs

      Ovarian pains extending down the genito-crural nerves : Dreadful distress and pain; headache; menstrual flow too early and profuse; pains down the anterior of thighs; neuralgic dysmenorrhoea.

Pregnancy

      After-pains, when of the above character and with profuse lochia.

Larynx

      Hoarse, husky feeling in the throat.

Lungs

      Desire to take a long breath. Tight feeling about the chest, inclined to gape.

Lower Limbs

      Severe neuralgic pains in the course of the genito-crural nerves : Excessive weakness of lower limbs; chlorosis.

Limbs in General

      Pains in the limbs, neuralgic, shooting.

Numbness and weakness.

Nerves

      Pricking sensation; shocks as from electricity, Numbness, worse on left side.

Chill Fever Sweat

      Chills, pains in limbs; nausea;. Flashes of heat. Sense of heat in veins.

Tissues

      Acts upon the nervous system, mostly upon the sensory nerves, but causes a marked depression of vitality, a non-reactive state, hence its use in chlorosis, measles, neuralgia, etc., when there is sensorial and bodily depression.

Mucous membrane smarts as from pepper. Catarrh.

Skin

      Measles, dulness, bewilderment, drowsiness, want of sufficient development of the eruption (see catarrhal symptoms. Clinical but trustworthy).

Relationship

      Compare with : Actea rac. Gelsem., Bellad.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
