Mind

      Great depression of spirits; irritable.

Sensorium

      Frequent attacks of vertigo; things whirl before the eyes, are double; or, white speck come into view and blot all else.

Inner Head

      Feeling of fulness of head, with dull, pressive frontal headache.

Pain on top and side of head; climaxis.

Eyes

      Twitching of eyes, they seem to revolve in circles and dart from object to object.

Ears

      Constant dull pain in left ear, caused by extension from inflamed tonsil.

Eyes feel hot on closing lids.

Eyes smart, balls ache; profuse lachrymation.

Face

      Sudden pallor; coppery taste.

Tongue etc.

      Slimy, coppery taste.

Pricking sensation in tongue with a feeling as if something was under its root pressing it upward.

Mouth

      Saliva profuse; bitter.

Throat

      Dryness of fauces, with difficult deglutition; with burning distress in stomach.

Tonsils congested, inflamed; left one very large, dark colored, with dull pain, worse from swallowing.

Feeling as of a lump behind larynx, producing constant desire to swallow.

Sharp, lancinating pain in right tonsil.

Burning in oesophagus at cardiac orifice.

Desires Aversions

      Loss of appetite, followed by canine hunger.

Nausea and Vomiting

      Eructations of food, strongly acid.

Stomach

      Goneness in epigastrium; climaxis.

Faint feeling a number of times in epigastrium, with pain in region of liver and bowels.

Burning distress in sternum and stomach, with fine neuralgic pains.

Repeated fine, sharp cutting pains in epigastrium.

Hypochondria

      Pain in region of right lobe of liver.

Abdomen

      Fine cutting, colicky pains every few minutes; relieved by hard stool, followed by dull pains in bowels.

Pain in left inguinal region while walking.

      Black, dry, lumpy stools; costive.

Urine

      First increase and light, with great desire; later, scanty and dark; haematemesis.

Male Sexual Organs

      Erotic fancies; emission; prostrated, dull, lumbar pains, despondent, irritable.

Seminal emissions, irresistible tendency to masturbation.

Female Sexual Organs

      Constant aching, referred to the mouth of the womb.

Displaced uterus, with menorrhagia; cervix tumefied (swelled); bleeds when touched.

For days oozing of dark blood with small coagula; uterus enlarged, cervix tumefied or dilated.

Menses scanty, with ovarian irritation.

Bearing down as if everything would come through.

Burning distress in ovaries.

Acute pain worse in left ovary, with swelling; pains intermittent; shoot rapidly down legs.

Menses profuse, frequent coagula.

Between menses constant suffering under left breast, at margin of ribs.

Climaxis : vertigo, metrorrhagia.

Pregnancy

      Produces abortion.

Labor pains deficient; os soft, pliable, dilatable.

Lungs

      Sharp tearing in left side from top of chest down to sixth or seventh rib, aggravated by breathing.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
