Burning in hands.

Hands deathly pale.

Coldness and numbness of right hand, with tingling of the ring and the ring and little fingers.

Limbs in General

      Lassitude, heaviness, trembling of limbs.

Limbs cold, covered with cold sweat.

Formication; prickling; tingling; numbness in limbs.

Cramps in hands and toes.

Painful jerkings in limbs at night.

Paraplegia.

Nerves

      Spasmodic twitchings.

Irregular movements of whole body.

Spasms, with the fingers spread out.

Tetanic spasms, with full consciousness, followed by great exhaustion.

Sudden and great exhaustion.

Loss of power of voluntary motion. Feels as if walking upon velvet; paralysis from disease or lower part of spine, sensory, then motor.

Sinking spells at 3. A.M.

Sleep

      Frequent yawning.

Inclination to sleep; drowsiness.

Sleep at night disturbed by frightful dreams.

Great sleepiness; deep, heavy sleep, stupor.

Restless and sleepless; from formication which worries.

Time

      Aversion to heat or to being covered.

May feel cold, but does not wish to be covered.

Chill Fever Sweat

      Disagreeable sensation in back, abdomen and limbs.

Skin cold, with shivering.

Violent chill but of short duration; followed soon after by internal burning heat, with great thirst.

Cold limbs, cold sweat, great weakness.

Cold stage preceded by vomiting, succeeded by moderate sweating.

Severe and long lasting dry heat, with great restlessness and violent thirst.

Sweat, especially on upper body.

Cold, clammy sweat over the whole body.

      Formication under the skin.

Tissues

      Dissolution of blood corpuscles, blood thin; passive hemorrhages.

Neuralgia caused by pressure on branch of a nerve by a distended vein.

Thrombosis of abdominal vessels.

Tumefaction of glands. Lymphatic tumors.

Collapse from choleroid diseases.

Rapid emaciation of paralyzed parts.

Ulcers, worse from external warmth.

Gangrene: from anaemia; external injuries, application of leeches or mustard; better from cold, worse from heat; dry, of old people.

Skin

      Cold and dry; dingy, wrinkled, dry and insensible; desquamation.

Varicose ulcers and enlarged veins in old people.

Stages and States

      Irritable, plethoric subjects.

Nervous temperament.

Women of very lax muscular fibre.

Feeble, cachectic women; thin scrawny.

Very old, decrepit persons.

Relationship

      Resembles in cholera morbus, Colchic.

Cinchon. follows well after Secale.

Similar to Arsen., but cold and heat acts opposite.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
