Mind

      Leaves out whole words in writing.

Great indifference, with aversion to all occupation or labor.

Sensorium

      Sensation of stupefaction and drowsiness in head on rising in morning.

Intoxicated from a little wine.

Inner Head

      Pain in forehead and temples when lying in bed in morning; worse from drinking wine and in wet, cold weather; better after rising and moving about.

Outer Head

      The scalp feels sore and as if bruised.

Violent drawing and tearing in bones and periosteum of cranial bones; worse when at rest; in the morning; during a thunder- storm and during wet, cold, stormy weather; better from wrapping the head up warmly; from dry heat and from exercise.

Biting-itching on scalp, especially in evening.

Eyes

      Dimness of vision when reading and writing.

Shooting pain outward, worse before a storm.

Periodical, dry burning in eyes, worse in bright daylight and from intent looking.

Spasmodic contraction of eyelids.

Insufficiency of internal recti muscles.

Ears

      Otalgia (right ear); violent twitching pain.

Sensation in ear as from a worm.

Buzzing in ears, aggravated when swallowing.

Nose

      Diminished sense of smell.

Bleeding of nose, left side.

Soreness of inner nose, with scurf either yellow or black.

Violent sneezing, when rising in morning with heat in face.

Thin, fluid and profuse discharge, with rheumatic or gouty symptoms.

One or the other nostril obstructed, less in the open air.

Face

      Chilliness over the face.

Violent tearing, jerking faceache; worse in the wind and from changes of weather; better while eating and from warmth.

Lower Face

      Lips dry, burning.

Vesicles on inner side of lower lip, sore when eating.

Teeth

      Toothache better from warm than from cold application; pain leave completely during and for an hour or two after eating.

Toothache with earache.

Neuralgia of inferior and superior dental nerves; teeth loose; snags come away; gums swollen; pains worse from change of weather; better from warmth.

Tongue etc.

      Taste lost.

Smarting vesicles under tongue.

Mouth

      Increase of saliva in mouth, with dryness of throat.

Throat

      Constriction and burning in throat.

Sore throat.

Desires Aversions

      Easily satisfied with a small quantity of food; feels uncomfortable after wards.

Thirst is generally wanting.

Nausea and Vomiting

      Gulping of a rancid or bitter fluid.

Constriction and pressure at pit of stomach, with dyspnoea.

Hypochondria

      Periodical crampy pains under short ribs.

Pressing and drawing, with feeling of repletion in stomach and oppression of breathing.

Pains as from from flatulence, worse in left hypochondrium.

Stitches in the spleen from walking fast: tension when stooping.

Abdomen

      Distention in upper part of abdomen, with dyspnoea; evening and morning.

Much rumbling in abdomen, with eructations and discharge of fetid flatus.

Colic at navel, or feeling of repletion after eating.

Stool etc.

      Stool papescent, yet tardy, requiring much urging.

Diarrhoea; painless, undigested; after meals; after fruit; from wet, cold weather; in morning with much flatus; or, with pains in limbs.

Dysentery in summer, renewed before a thunder-storm.

Drawing, extending from rectum of genitals.

Pulsation in anus.

Urine

      Frequent, urging to urinate, with drawing in region of bladder.

Pain in urethra, as from subcutaneous ulceration.

Increased secretion of very offensive urine.

Greenish urine.

Male Sexual Organs

      Desire weak; aversion to an embrace.

Emissions at night, with amorous dreams, later long continued erections.

Testicles : especially the epididymis, intensely painful to touch; soreness extending into abdomen and thighs; drawn up, swollen, painful.

Induration and swelling of (left) testicle; after gonorrhoea, or with blenorrhoea.

Hydrocele.

Itching and sweat of scrotum.

Soreness or sore sensation between genitals and thighs.

Female Sexual Organs

      Menstruation too profuse and too early; with fever and headache.

Neck Back

Upper Limbs

      Drawing pains in arms, worse in wet weather.

Sensation of coldness, skin wrinkles on lower legs.

Dropsical swelling of lower legs and feet.

Limbs in General

      Heavy, weak feeling and formication in back and limbs; worse at rest and in rough weather.

Sensation in joints as if sprained, with swelling and redness; with arthritic nodosities.

Drawing, tearing in periosteum, worse at night; in wet, stormy weather; and at rest; better in motion; mostly in forearms and lower legs.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
