      Potassic dichromate. Drysdale. K2 Cr2 O.

Mind

      Anxiety arising from the chest.

Listlessness, languor; great disinclination for mental or bodily labor.

Anthropophobia.

Indifferent or low-spirited after the least annoyance, with distress in stomach.

Ill-humored : low-spirited.

Sensorium

      Vertigo, with nausea, inclination to vomit and pain in the epigastrium; better in the open air.

Lightness in the head, across the forehead, on stooping; worse mornings.

Sudden transient attacks of vertigo, when rising from a seat.

Inner Head

      Soon after dinner, a dull, heavy throbbing above the eyes as if head against anything, or in open air; worse stooping or moving about.

Periodic headache with vertigo and nausea, in the morning on awaking, also in evening; often relieved by pressure, in the open air, or by eating.

Blindness, followed by violent headache, must lie down; aversion to light and noise; slight returns with the increasing headache.

In the morning, on awaking, pain in the forehead and vertex; later extends to the back of the head.

Outer Head

      Violent shooting pains from root of nose along left orbital arch to external angle of eye, with dim sight, like a scale the eye; begins in morning, increases till noon, and ceases towards evening.

Frontal headache : usually over one eye; shooting at intervals in the right temple.

Semi-lateral headache in small spots or along the course of a few nerves.

Darting or aching pains on one side; flying pains.

Bones of head fell sore; sharp stitches in the bones.

Eyes

      Sight dim, confused : before headache; with vertigo; with yellow sight.

Photophobia only by daylight; when opening the lids they twitch.

Catarrhal inflammation, stringy discharge, or scanty secretion, worse mornings on awaking.

On opening the eyes, lachrymation and burning.

Heat redness in the eyes, with desire to rub them.

Indolent ulcers of the cornea; pale ring around cornea.

Sequelae of iritis; pains pricking, stinging, wandering; mostly of the left eye.

True descemetitis; fine punctate opacities on membrane of Descemet, especially over the pupil.

Conjunctiva red, traversed by large vessels; or chemosis with small spots here and there, like ecchymoses.

White of the eye dirty yellow, puffy, and covered with yellow- brown points.

Long-lasting dense opacities of the cornea.

Brown spots on the cornea.

Lids agglutinated in the morning; yellow matter in the canthi.

OEdema of the lids; great desire to rub them.

Shooting pains over the eyebrow :.

Heaviness of the upper lids on waking; requires an effort to open them.

Lids red, itching, tender; tarsi seem rough, causing a sensation as from sand in the eyes; granular lids.

Ears

      Stitches in the left ear and left parotid gland, with headache.

Violent stitches in left ear, extending into root of mouth, side of head and neck; glands swollen, neck painful to touch.

Thick, yellow, fetid discharge from both ears. After scarlatina.

Pulsating pains in the ears at night; also stinging; external meatus swollen and inflamed.

Itching of the (right) ear-lobe, waking him.

Nose

      Loss of smell.

Fetid smell from the nose.

Burrowing and beating in root of nose; external heat, throbbing; nose swollen and hot; fulness as from something thick; nose dry and heavy as from a weight on it.

Thick, dark red blood from the nose; irregular, small contracted pulse.

Ropy, tough discharge, often also from the posterior nares; offensive or not. Discharge of tough green masses; or hard plugs.

Coryza fluent, excoriating nose and lip; nostrils sensitive, ulcerated; round ulcer or scabs on the septum; small perforating ulcers on septum.

Spot in the right lachrymal bone is swollen and throbbing; profuse secretion from the nostril.

Coryza, with pressure and tightness at root of nose; distress and fulness from inflammation in frontal sinuses; worse evenings and in the open air; in the morning obstruction and bleeding from right nostril.

Sneezing in the morning; on going into the open air.

Tickling, as from a hair, high up in the left nostril.

Face

      Face : pale, yellowish; red, in blotches; flushed.

Expression : anxious.

Bones of face sensitive, painful, as if bruised.

Shooting pain in left upper maxillary bone towards ear; acute infra-orbital parts of malar bone.

Lower Face

      Digging in the rami of the lower Jaw.

Lower lip swelled, chapped.

Ulcerations, with indurated edges and smarting on the mucous surface of the lower lip.

Mumps on the right side.

Parotids swollen; pains from ears into the glands.

Tongue etc.

      Taste: coppery; sweetish; sour; better, in the morning.

Tongue broad, or with scalloped edges.

Sensation of a hair on the back part of the tongue and velum; not relieved be eating or drinking.

Tongue coated thick yellow, edges red and full of small painful ulcers; thick yellow fur toward base in catarrhs of stomach.

Tongue dry, smooth, red cracked; dysentery.

Deep ulcer on edge of tongue; syphilitic ulcers on tongue; deep; stinging.

Mouth

      Dryness of the mouth and lips, relieved by drinking cold water.

Saliva : increased, bitter viscid, frothy; tasting salt.

Throat

      Soft palate, slightly reddened; uvula relaxed, with sensation of a plug in the throat, not relieved by swallowing.

OEdematous uvula.

Deep excavated sore, with a reddish areola, and containing a yellow, tenacious matter, at the root of the uvula; fauces and palate erythematous, bright, or dark red, or coppery.

Sharp, shooting pains in the left tonsil, extending toward the ear; relieved by swallowing; suppuration of the tonsils.

Ulcers in the fauces; also in the pharynx, discharging cheesy lumps, of offensive smell.

Ulcers on tonsils and throat covered with an ashy slough, dark livid surrounding.

Posterior wall of pharynx is dark red, glossy, puffed, showing ramifications of pale red vessels : on the left of the middle a small crack exuding blood.

Redness of sound places in mucous membrane of mouth and fauces; tough stringy nasal discharge; putrid odor; ulcers in the mouth. Diphtheria.

Throat pains more when putting the tongue out.

Dryness and burning in throat, mornings; often coincident with inability to breathe through the nose.

Burning in the pharynx, extending to the stomach; solids cause pain when swallowed, and leave a sensation as of something remaining there.

Desires Aversions

      Appetite lost; thirst increased; foul tongue; languor.

Longing for beer, for acid drink, which increase the thirst. Aversion to water.

Disinclination for mental or bodily labor. Se Dislike to meat.

Eating and Drinking

      Food lies like a load; sensation after a full meal, as if digestion was suspended.

Pressure and heaviness in stomach, immediately after eating.

Secondary bad effects from malt liquors; especially from larger beer.

Nausea and Vomiting

      Eructations of air, relieving an uneasiness of stomach, as from pent up wind at the great curvature. Fetid eructations. Nausea, feeling of heat over body, with giddiness, rush of blood to head; worse on moving about, in the morning, at sight of food after meals, and after stool; excited by drinking and smoking; better by eating and in open air.

Giddiness, followed by vomiting of an acid white mucous fluid with pressure and burning in the stomach; also in ulcer of stomach.

Vomit : sour, undigested; of bile. bitter; pinkish, glairy fluid; of mucus and blood; of blood, with cold sweat on hands, face hot; of yellow, purulent mucus.

Stomach

      Swelling of the stomach (evening), with fulness and pressure; cannot beat tight clothing; tongue yellow.

Awakens with a start; heat in pit of stomach and spitting of blood; 2 A.M.

Awoke with uneasiness, soreness and tenderness, especially in a small spot towards left of ensiform cartilage; headache in a small spot.

Pains, uneasiness in stomach. alternate pains in limbs.

Gastric symptoms supersede the rheumatic.

Feeling of coldness in stomach and bowels.

Hypochondria

      Dull pain or stitches in right hypochondrium, especially when limited to a small spot; claycolored stools; metallic taste; confusion in head.

Stitches in region of spleen, extending into lumbar region, worse from motion or pressure.

Abdomen

      Tympanitis : abdomen feels bloated, followed by eructations.

Gastro-intestinal inflammation, cramps here and there, worse in calves and inner parts of thighs.

Stitches through the abdomen, extending to the spinal column, Cutting as from knives, soon after eating; colic, after eating with cutting at the navel, during the night.

Stool etc.

      Watery, gushing diarrhoea in the morning; awakes with urgent desire, followed by violent tenesmus, which prevents her rising; later, burning in the abdomen, nausea, and violent straining to vomit.

Dysentery brownish, frothy, watery, or frequent bloody evacuations, gnawing about the navel, tenesmus; tongue smooth, red, cracked.

Clay-colored stools; chronic diarrhoea.

Periodical dysentery every year; early part of summer.

Diarrhoea or dysentery after rheumatism.

Constipation, debility, coated tongue, headache, cold extremities.

Habitual constipation; stools scanty, knotty, followed by burning and painful retraction of the anus; also periodical costiveness.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
