Mind

      Stupid, dull

Sighing.

Depressed sleepy.

Homesick.

Sensorium

      Light, dizzy, as though flying round and round; sensation as if falling to the left.

Inner Head

      Sick headache; dull hammering beating stitching; or boring pain in left side of head; pressing from right to left beginning in the morning and increasing during the afternoon and evening worse in cold air; better while walking slowly in fresh air.

Outer Head

      Soreness of scalp.

Sweat on head profuse about forehead.

Eyes

      Staring. Eyes suffussed during fever.

Conjunctive yellow with the chill.

Ears

      Crackling in ears like burning birch-bark.

Ears feel as filled up.

Nose

      Fluent coryza great heat sneezing.

Face

      Face flushed with fever.

Shining of the face.

Lower Face

      Lips blue. Intermittent.

Tongue etc.

      Tongue furred brown along the centre; bitter pappy taste with the chill.

Tongue numb; pricking stinging pain.

Throat

      Choking fulness of throat must swallow often.

Pain in left side of throat causing pain in swallowing; before chill.

Burning as if scalded in back of throat.

Desires Aversions

      Thirst during chill and heat; or before chill.

Wants lemonade or cold drinks during the chill.

Thirst with dropsy.

No appetite.

Chill Fever Sweat

      Chilly when changing position during sweat.

Chill begins in small of the back, and spreads over the body; violent shaking with comparatively little coldness; bone-pain thirst during chill and heat.

Night sweats hectic.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
