      Hydrated oxide of Bismuth. HAHNEMANN. Bi2 O2 OH.


      Dulness, heaviness of head.

Solitude is unbearable; desire for company.

Unstable minded; begins now this, again that, holds but a short time to any one thing.

Surly and dissatisfied with his condition, complains.


      Vertigo, sensation as if the anterior half of the brain were turning in a circle.

Inner Head

      Pressure and sensations of heaviness in the forehead; at times also in occiput; worse from motion.

Dull, cutting pain in the brain, begins above the right orbit and extends to the occiput.


      Pressure in the right eyeball, from before backwards and from below upwards.

Thickened mucus in both canthi.


      Nosebleed, dark blood.

Eating and Drinking

Nausea and Vomiting

Heart Pulse

      Strong heart beat.

Outer Chest

      Fine stitches in the centre of the sternum, not affected by breathing.

Upper Limbs

      Paralytic weariness and weakness in right arm.

Laming, tearing pressure on right forearm: more toward outer side; passes off by motion and touch.

Tearing in metacarpal bones of right fore and middle fingers.

Fine tearing in finger-tips of right hand, particularly under the nails.

Lower Limbs

      Tearing pain below the external malleolus of right foot, terminating at the tendo-achillis.

Tearing: in the toes; in the heels, more left.

      Screwing, boring, tearing pressure in the bones of the hands and feet.

Corrosive itching aside the tibia and on back of both feet near joints, worse from scratching; must scratch till it bleeds.


      Antidotes to Bismuth: Calcarea oster., Capsic., Nux. vom.

Bismuth. isomorphic (similar in crystaline form) with Arsen, Phosphor., Antimonium, and resembles them in symptoms.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
