Mind

      Omits words while writing.

Confused head.

Inclined to dwell on unpleasant things.

Child cross, wants to be nursed in the arms, Anxiety; while sweating.

Sensorium

      Vertigo, as if he must fall sideways, mostly in the afternoon.

Inner Head

      Pain and heat in the region of the so-called organs of reverence and firmness.

Head symptoms worse from mental emotions, exposure to a draft of air, uncovering one self; in the morning on awaking.

Outer Head

      Cold sweat on the head.

Eyes

      Burning in the eyes and lids.

Throbbing in the eyeball.

Worse reading by artificial light; walking, in the open air.

Nose

      Sneezing and hoarseness.

Takes cold in the head readily.

Face

      Coppery spots on the face.

Face red, with little blisters.

Burning heat of the face; or of one side.

Circumscribed redness.

Tension in one side of the face.

Numb feeling in the face.

Symptoms relieved by external heat, pressure, or friction.

Cold sweat on the face.

Tongue etc.

      Taste: bitter; of blood.

Extensive ulceration of the tongue, with deeply chapped fungoid surfaces.

Mouth

      An ulcerated tumor on left side of mouth, upon the soft commissure of the jaws, behind last molar.

Throat

      Angina faucium and tonsillaris with the characteristic high- colored, strong urine.

Mouth and throat symptoms relieved by eating.

Heat in the oesophagus, as from acid eructations.

Desires Aversions

      Appetite in the evening; lost in the morning; nausea.

Thirst with sleepiness; evening.

Nausea and Vomiting

      Loathing sickness at the stomach, pain and discomfort; with gagging.

Vomiting of a salty or bitter substance.

Stomach

      Weak digestion.

Burning or warmth; pressure in the stomach.

Gastric symptoms increased when walking, especially ascending.

Hypochondria

      In region of liver constant fine stitching midway in upper portion thereof, not increased by pressure.

Obstruction of the liver.

Abdomen

      Heat through the abdomen.

Cutting about the navel; tearing bellyache.

Pressure of clothing makes him feel wearied.

Stool etc.

      Stools copious, watery, greyish-white, like dirty soap-suds; excessively offensive, scenting whole house.

Stools of a strong, pungent smell, like that of the urine.

Putrid, bloody stools.

Urine

      Sore pain in back: burning in left kidney, with drawing when stooping; dull pain in the kidneys, loins stiff; right knee swollen.

Nephritic colic; urine deep red, of a strong odor.

Irritability of bladder: with muco-purulent discharges, enlarged prostate; with concretions of urate of ammonia; calculus.

Old persons: dribbling of strong smelling urine.

Dysuria senilis gravel trifling, irritable bladder.

Urine high colored: increased specific gravity; hot, scalding; ammoniacal; very offensive in many diseases.

A granular kind of mucus mixed with phosphates in the sediment; urine dark, reddish-brown; acid reaction, or very offensive; fleeting pains in bladder, not when urinating, but at other times; vesical catarrh, from suppressed gonorrhoea, calculi or gout.

White flocculent sediment immediately after voiding urine, composed of phosphate and carbonate of lime, without uric acid; pale, languid; weak loins.

Enuresis nocturna of children; urine offensive.

Male Sexual Organs

      Gleet; urine offensive.

Gonorrhoea suppressed by copaiva, with offensive urine.

Female Sexual Organs

      Prolapsus uteri with fetid urine.

Pregnancy

      Gastric derangements when ascending a height.

Retention of urine; infants.

Larynx

      Slight hoarseness in the morning, sneezing.

Breathing

      Difficult of breathing on awaking.

Asthma with inflammatory rheumatic complaints.

Mucous oppression of the lungs.

Cough

      Dry constant, hacking cough after suppressed gonorrhoea; cough followed by expectoration of green mucus.

Lungs

      Pneumonia, asthenic forms, great weakness, difficult breathing increasing every hour.

Stitches in chest, especially on breathing deeply; evening.

Pain about the third rib, right side, midway between sternum and side, increased by breathing.

Pain in left side, about sixth rib, increased by deep inspiration and bending to either side.

Heart Pulse

      Pains change place incessantly, but are most constant about the heart.

Awakens after midnight with violent pulsations of the heart and temporal arteries, 110 per minute; internal but no external heat; cannot go to sleep.

Sense of weakness in the praecordia.

Palpitation while sitting; worse after drinking.

Palpitation worse at night, lying; at times tearing, rheumatic pains in the extremities, relieving the heart.

Pulse accelerated; full; slower and weaker; intermittent.

Gout affecting the heart.

Outer Chest

      Pressure of clothing on chest is annoying.

Neck Back

      Deep, penetrating pain in posterior part of left side, at about the sixth rib.

Pain right side of back between tenth dorsal vertebra and side.

Dull pain in region of kidneys; stiffness in the loins.

Trembling in the lumbar region.

Upper Limbs

      Tearing pains apparently in the bones.

Ganglion of the wrist.

Fingers swollen; tearing and the fine stitching pains in various parts of the limbs.

Red spots on the fingers.

Cold hands, with head symptoms.

Lower Limbs

      Pain in left hip, knee and toes; thence in muscles of calf, and then in the knee; after it has left these parts, appears in the right thigh and ankle.

Swelling of the right knee, ulcerative pain in the whole leg; with pains in the kidneys.

Pain in the right knee; then in the left.

Cracking or sense of dryness in the knee-joints.

Tearing and stitches especially in the metatarsal joints or the right great toe.

Pain in right, later in left tendo-achillis.

During the night gout commences in the right great toe.

Gout going from left to right.

Cold feet; cold sweat.

      Gouty concretions.

Nodes on the joints of upper and lower limbs, cracking and kinking on motion.

Syphilitic spots and marks.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
