Generalities

      (Mercurius Bin Iodatus) Like Merc-Io-Fl. this salt also affects the lymphatic glands; THROAT, but on the left side. It acts on cellular tissue also; has wandering rheumatic pains with weariness. Early cases of cold esp. in children. Cuts short, attacks of asthma when given in 2x or 3x or prevents it developing during the night if given at bedtime. Much hard glandular swelling. Chronic suppurating buboes. Swellings.

Worse

      Empty swallowing, or swallowing food. After sleep. Weather changes. Washing floor. Getting wet. Touch and pressure. After dinner.

Mind

      Ill humour. Disposed to cry.

Head

      Painfully heavy occiput. Frontal region as if bound by the cord.

Eyes

      Granular eyelids. Trachoma.

Ears

      Closure of eustachian tube; opens with a pop. Deafness better after becoming warm on walking.

Nose

      Coryza with right side of nose hot and swollen.

Face

      Aching sore malar bones. Slimy sticky lips on waking. Eczema on chin.

Mouth

      Tongue; wrinkled stiff at base; pains when moving.

Throat

      Dark red fauces. Throat SORE (left to right). Tonsils and glands greatly swollen. Disposition to hawk with sensation of a lump in throat. Stiffness of muscles of throat and neck. Hawks much mucus from posterior nares. Uvula elongated. Diphtheria; submaxillary glands painfully enlarged.

Stomach

      Desires food more salted.

Urinary

      Urethra indurated.

Male

      Hard chancres. Stubborn suppurating buboes. Sarcocele of (left) testicles.

Female

      Profuse acrid green leucorrhoea. Fibroids stony hard.

Respiratory

      Asthma. Hoarseness on getting little wet. Catching pain under right breast, oppressing breathing. Cough from elongated uvula, with sore throat.

Neck

      Stiff. Cervical adenitis.

Extremities

      Wandering rheumatic pains esp. muscular. Middle humerus as if about to break. Pain from calf upto sacrum.

Skin

      Small fissures and cracks. Moist cracks on palms.

Fever

      Intense shivering followed by feverishness. Night sweat, hot.

S.R. Phatak
A pioneer of Homoeopathy in Maharashtra, Dr Shankar Raghunath Phatak was born on 6th September, 1896. He did his MBBS from Grant Medical College, in 1924. Started his practice but somehow not satisfied with Allopathic Treatment.

He was convinced about Homoeopathy while going through Sir William Osler's writings on 'History of Medicine' so switched over to an entirely Homoeopathic Practice in 1932. He also started working on Homoeopathic literature along with his Practice.

He has contributed immensely to homoeopathic literature. He was an ardent follower of Dr Boger. His Repertory is based on Boger's ''A Synoptic key to Materia Medica'.
