Generalities
A valuable remedy for toxaemia of acute infections; diseases esp. diphtheria when there is early rapid and extreme prostration; with cyanosis; coldness and tremors. Affects most prominently MOUTH, THROAT and LARYNX. Rapid local destruction. Putridity. Haemorrhages of dark fluid blood. Twitching and jerking of muscles. Efficient prophylactic in diphtheria.

Swallowing. Speaking. Eating.
Mind
Great excitement; fits of passion. Fury. Talkativeness.
Head
Atrocious headaches worse night.
Eyes
Sunken; fixed.
Nose
Profuse epistaxis several times a day.
Mouth
Covered with ulcerations; with gray membrane. Free salivation. Foetor of breath.
Throat
Cutting pain, on swallowing. Much thick grayish-membrane in the throat. Looks raw in spots esp. in public speakers. Tonsils enlarged. Necrotic destruction of soft parts of palate and fauces. Septic diphtheria.
Stomach
Early and complete anorexia. Incessant hiccough. Thought of food causes retching. Milk betters.
Abdomen
Frequent diarrhoea preceded by severe colic. Stools; offensive, green, slimy, bloody, black.
Urinary
Urine; albuminous, amber yellow, scanty; suppressed.
Respiratory
Cutting pain in larynx. Hoarseness, talking painful. Croupy cough; causes suffocation.
Heart
Weak.
Extremities
Varicose veins with great tenderness of leg (left). Cold limbs.
Skin
Moist and cold. Sweatiness.
