Recently, in working with Doctor Post of Philadelphia, I conceived the idea of having the alcohol irradiated in an open vessel and the raw rays pushed right into the alcohol without a glass screen intervening as done with a bottle which I exposed. The oldest was fourteen years old; they all died from some suppurative condition, one from an appendix, one from a mastoid I dont recall what the others died from. They all died in hospitals. Analyzing its symptomatology, this drug should prove a useful remedy in serious gastric conditions and in some of the diseases of the male sex organs brought on by sexual abuse. The provers have been thanked years ago for their grace of perseverance and personal sacrifice. EPIDEMIC DIARRHEA OF THE NEWBORN WITH HOMOEOPATHIC THERAPEUTICS AND CLINICAL CASES. Epidemic diarrhea of the newborn is a clinical syndrome generally limited to the first month of life. It is characterized by marked contagiousness, high morbidity and mortality rates. In a clinical pattern manifestations include frequent water stools, rapid weight loss, prostration, dehydration, and acidosis. At the autopsies there are no characteristic pathologic findings.
The more excitable and fidgety the patient felt, the more frequently they were called upon to urinate. Tired, weary lackadaisical sensation, with much mental disturbance about trifles. Gloomy at times. typical neurasthenic state. In the beginning sleep was restless, disturbed by dreams of a nondescript character, and fullness in the head, with a feeling of indifference and general broken-up state in the morning.
A COMPLETED PROVING OF BUTYRIC ACID WITH CLINICAL CONFIRMATION. Butyric acid affects principally the gastro-enteric tract. Few mental symptoms developed and few tissue changes were observed. The gastric symptoms began in the mouth with a profuse salivation. There was loss of appetite, or the appetite was not as large as usual. Two provers had an aversion to food and said, “I do not care to eat.” They complained of severe cramps in the pit of the stomach.
Much of the symptom complex has been observed in those children where the stool culture presented the Morgan bacillus and many of the confirmed symptoms have either been produced or are cured symptoms in healthy but susceptible human subjects augmented by clinical observations of the symptom complexes that they are capable of removing in the sick individual.
The neurological findings were very uncertain as occasionally there would be positive Koenig or Babinski. Never any cervical rigidity, reflexes sluggish at times. I did a spinal tap with clear fluid under much pressure but the laboratory report was negative, two cells, no globulin, normal sugar reduction. The thought that has led me to write these confirmations of the homoeopathic remedy is due to the fact that a young homoeopathic physician, who was associated with me, was severely criticized by a surgeon for not having a case of carcinomata operated upon early.
