CAN HOMOEOPATHY COME BACK. There are men of wealth who are interested in Homoeopathy. Some of them have other interests; but if these men are cultivated and our desire kept before them, they can be made of see that helping us will advance their own interests. If you study the history of our colleges, and indeed, many of the old school also, you will find the idea for a college originated in the minds of one or two men. From there it spread to the group and the college resulted.
THE TREATMENT OF CHRONIC DISEASE. The homoeopath needs only to hunt out these peculiar symptoms as told by his patients and then fit them to the remedy and he has done more to cure the chronic ailment of that patient than a hundred dollars worth of examinations as given in the multiple clinics of today. Some years ago I had a patient who had lived in Colorado for years.
HOMOEOPATHY AND HORSE SENSE. Thus Echinacea came into medicinal use. It is specific in snake bites and for poisonous insect bites as well as in septic conditions, blood poisoning and puerperal fevers, with coated tongue, lassitude, aching, and chills. No, it doesnt kill the germs in vivo, but it aids nature to develop antibodies which do the work.
SOME OBSERVATIONS OF HEART CONDITIONS. The heart is enclosed in a serous sac, the pericardium. It has four chambers, viz., a right and left ventricle and a right and left auricle. A partition of fibrous tissue, the septum, separates the right and left chambers. So well regulated is the heart that each chamber functions independently to a certain extent. Between the auricles and ventricles are valves or doors composed of strong membrane, the left side having two doors while the right has three.
ALBUMINURIA IN PREGNANCY. Sometimes this trying time for the young mother will be the warning for the doctor that all is not well. The frequent headaches, the rising blood pressure, and a trace of albumin in the urine should be sufficient evidence for him that he is not dealing with a blood condition brought about by pregnancy but that he is confronted with nephritis.
To a slight extent there is a similarity of action between the two remedies. Both act through the cerebrospinal nervous system. Stannum reaches the digestive, sexual and respiratory organs, while Staphisagria reaches the whole gastrointestinal tract, the genitourinary organs, and the skin.
Both remedies are indicated in the irritable type of individual. The Nux Vomica patient is of a quarrelsome, spiteful disposition and doesnt care who knows it. The Coca patient is not dependable, is exceedingly nervous and anxious, but not so quick on the trigger.
Having ascertained the condition, what shall we do? Diet is necessary at once-a milk diet with orange juice and plenty of water. Until the burning and urinary distress is relieved the patient should go to bed and stay there. In the early stages if nausea is distressing Dr. Royal of Iowa advocates 10 c.c. of the husbands blood injected into the buttocks. I have found this method splendid.
Several years ago a man who was a very good friend of mine developed appendicitis. His wife was a Christian Scientist, and because of her peculiar beliefs she prevailed on him to keep away from medical doctors and trust in the healing powers of Divine Providence.
I suppose had I yielded to popular clamor I would have given her one of the sulfa group and perhaps my patient would have recovered equally well, but I am a firm believer in the use of the indicated remedy and follow that plan if the patient is my own.
