H A Neiswander RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS. Rheumatoid arthritis is one of the outstanding maladies which handicaps humanity in general with no respect to age, station in life, rich or poor or any degree of sanitation. An acute arthritis is manifested or marked by acute pain, heat, redness and swelling, as of traumatism, gout, gonorrheal, or rheumatoid state.
DYSTOCIA. The best and quickest action, in a remedy well selected in high potency, is seen in the most alarming emergency cases, in a few moments, and seldom needs to be repeated. If there is no change after the remedy has been administered, the proper remedy has not been given. The time between remedies is a matter of judgment according to the emergency, may be a few moments to one-half hour.

Brothers and sisters vie with one another for the affections of their parents. Competition brings with it a feeling of hostility, this hostility leads to a feeling of inferiority, a fear of failure, fear of guilt and security.
REMEDIES AND TREATMENT DURING MENOPAUSE. The multiplicity of life of these modern times has added to these increased needs. Many women are of necessity placed in a position to bear the burdens of others; the added strain and shock have apparently made their own complaints very difficult to relieve. They often have hidden worries, which they seem unable to talk over with anyone.
BRIEF REVIEW OF THE SNAKE REMEDIES. Generally speaking, the toxic part of the snake venom is composed of two primary elements: the hematoxins, and the neurotoxins. The different reactions exhibited by people to snake venom is due to the varying amounts of these two basic ingredients. The venom varies both in toxicity and in the kind of toxins present in the different snakes. In fact within the same species many variations occur.
The normally robust, well developed mother during the age when she has pliable muscles with an adjustable pelvis, rarely has a great deal of difficulty, providing the foetus is normal in size and holds a normal position. But a pregnant woman must always be closely observed and checked symptomatically and physically for any deviation from the normal; for the abnormal conditions which are many are our concern.
COMPLAINTS OF PREGNANCY. The story of Creation in Biblical history tells us that child-birth shall be associated with pain and so down through the years, depending on the resistance, physique, anatomical formation and anatomical adjustments of the mother and her foetus, the mother has given birth to her children through discomfort and misery.
DIPHTHERINUM IN ACUTE DISEASES OF CHILDREN. In contagious diseases there are some cases that take on a violence such as is seen in diphtheria. In the common colds of children there will be found cases that have symptoms not usually found in the common cold. There may be a dry, unproductive cough that has resisted seemingly indicated remedy for days or weeks that will yield to Diphtherinum.
THE EFFECT OF VACCINES AND REMEDIES ON BODY REFLEXES. The nerve fibers of the autonomic nervous system pass as nervous from a gray substance to a ganglion on which they encounter a break or “synapse” on the other side of which a post-ganglionic neuron proceeds to the organ controlled. The autonomic fibers regulate the action of certain of the ductless glands, viscera, blood vessels, and all organs containing involuntary muscle, and are for the most part beneath consciousness.
The Schick and tests are quite reliable tests of susceptibility to diphtheria and scarlet respectively, but the attempted immunity against diphtheria by toxin and antitoxin, or toxoid antitoxin mixture, and against scarlet fever by scarletinal toxin throws or injects into the system a foreign matter the potency of which we have, so far, never been able to fully measure.
Our field sends out many surgeons, doctors and nurses. This of course influences the home folks who are our clientele, with wonderful advice from John, Bill or Mary, who are ambitious to use all the latest methods in surgery, diagnosis, nursing, etc. Infinitesimals are topics quite often discussed. In such a field there are many postoperatives, and a fair share of them are neurasthenics.
In the country of Holland recently an observation was made and compulsory vaccination and repealed. On autopsies of their encephalitis cases the only disease organism which could be found was the organism of cowpox. They used this organism to inoculate rabbits whose skin became covered with vaccine blisters.
That disease is primarily a morbid disturbance or disorderly action of the vital force, represented by the totality of the symptoms of the patient. It is purely a dynamical disturbance of the vital powers and functions which may or may not ultimate in gross tissue changes. The tissue changes are no essential part of the disease, but only the products of the disease which as such are not the objects of treatment by medication.
