According to the symptoms Arsenicum album was indicated, so I prepared a dose of 5 grains of the 3x trituration of a piece of liver (cats are very fond of liver but he noticed it and refused the dose.) The only way now was to use a little gentle force, so Tommy had to submit to be held firmly, and given the Arsenicum powder dry on the tongue.
As this is a constitutional disease, it can only be successfully cured by internal treatment in conjunction with soothing external application. The internal administration of the two remedies, Arsenicum 3x and Sulphur iod. 3x have proved curative, given on alternates days.
It will be noticed that the vet. did not diagnose this case as any particular disease, but treated the symptoms with the medicines that have the power in large doses to produce similar symptoms. Head and ear much swollen, wild glistening eyes, burning hot all over, rapid pulse, and very restless.
