A. H. Grimmer In most of their cases, if the selected remedy acted for them, it was only in a beneficial way. They have never seen the return of old symptoms or the sharp aggravation followed by a long period of well – being on the patients part. These same men have voiced disappointment with many cases from which they expected brilliant results from the prescription that was made.
FEW CLINICAL CASES. The things we learn from a review of clinical cases are valuable, not only in confirming the law of cure, but in developing and extending the philosophy of Homoeopathy. In that way prescribes grow in knowledge and efficiency in the administration of both the Art and Science of their chosen profession.
HINDRANCES TO THE HOMOEOPATHIC PRESCRIPTION. One more important source of interference with the homoeopathic remedy is the widespread use of sera and vaccines as protective agents against acute diseases. The reaction to these products of disease is often long lasting in its effect and leaves the victims of this practice sick and suffering.
HOMOEOPATHIC CONFIRMATIONS. Among the common things that the homoeopathic physician is called on to treat is constipation and, unless the similimum is given, many cases will not be cured and the patient will leave the doctor in disappointment and voice a sour note for Homoeopathy.
PREVENTION AND CURE OF HEART DISEASE BY HOMOEOPATHY. I think that there can be no question but that Aurum, too, is a remedy, but any remedy in the whole Materia Medica may come in. It I selected any, it would be Aurum mur. I think it is far more valuable than Aurum metallicum. Aurum mur. has cured a number of cases of heart disease that were organic in character.
NEW REMEDIES AND NEW ASPECTS OF OLD REMEDIES. In crude laboratory experiments on rats, a highly interesting result was obtained, proving its intricate tie up with the vital processes of life. Those members of a litter that were given regulated doses of this drug obtained a life span one third greater than those of the same litter not receiving the drug.
CLINICAL CASES. Let us hear from others about remedies used in this most painful and obstinate ailment which often culminates in nerve injection, or cutting of the nerve, leaving at best a paralyzed face and often the shifting of the trouble to deeper centers with disastrous results.
THE RELATIVE VALUE OF SYMPTOMS. Sometimes the physician may be compelled to ask three or four indirect questions to ascertain the verity or sureness of one symptoms. To illustrate: in order to know to what temperature group the patient belongs the physician will ask, “How sensitive to cold are you? How are you affected by a hot room? how does the suns heat affect you? How much clothing do you require to keep warm?
GNAPHALIUM. Looseness of bowels with passage of pale-colored faeces. Diarrheal discharge in the morning and during the day with irritable temper. Pain in bowels of children; dark colored liquid offensive stool in morning followed by pain in bowels all day. Vomiting and purging like cholera morbus in the night and all next day.
In the sphere of things related to healing and medicine we can see this same potent force of propaganda at work around us today. Some of it is good and true, but much of it is false and evil. A factor of interest to all is the steady growth that the non- medical cults of healing, such as the Naturopaths, Sanipractors, Chiropractors and Osteopaths, are achieving.
An individual slowed down mentally and physically; sleepy and tired even to a state of exhaustion. A venous patient with engorged capillaries giving the face a dark flush or even a purplish hue. One who is sensitive to the two extremes of temperature, whose feet and knees are icy cold and whose head and face hot, except perhaps the nose, which may be cold and dark red with engorged capillaries showing.
RECENT CONCEPTS AND NEW FORMULAE IN MEDICINE. Materialistic causation factors are largely replaced by a knowledge of the subtle forces producing distunement in the vital and physiologic processes of the organism, “disturbed life force” and changed polarity in the electro-magnetic currents of the body which renders the being out of harmony with the rhythm of the Cosmos.
PHILOSOPHY VERSUS EMPIRICISM. This is philosophic law versus empiricism in action. Man may gather facts from many observations over long periods of time and in many places, but until he arranges and classifies and correlates them and traces their origins back to their causations he will obtain little good from such observations.
Cancer is a condition, the outgrowth of very low states to use the languages of Dr. Kent and undoubtedly made up of all the miasms plus drug, serum and other irritation. I am convinced that all those factors enter into the admitted increase of cancer. Treatment by the “old school” is just as it was twenty years ago, in spite of the fact that their losses are appalling.
HOMOEOPATHIC PROPHYLAXIS. Especially in the realm of childrens diseases have the attempts at prophylaxis been chiefly directed and with some degree of apparent success. I say apparent because there is need for refinements in the technique of administration and in the preparation of the therapeutic agents employed, as there is still much to be desired in results obtained by present methods.
CLINICAL NOVELTIES. Apparently this was an incurable case, but in desperation the patient consented to a test of his blood for remedy selection. Oxydendron was the only remedy in several hundred of the polarity group to which his blood belonged to come through. It was given in the two hundredth potency with most amazing and rapid improvement in the patients symptoms and well-being.
THUJA. Asthma of sycotic children. Respiration short and quick, worse from deep inspiration and talking, relieved lying on affected side. Convulsive asthma. Cough in the morning excited by a choking sensation. Sputa green, tasting like old cheese. Spasms of lungs from drinking cold water.
LOGIC AND PHILOSOPHY. The regrettable thing today is to think of the many who were in college at that time who had the same teaching, the same opportunity to perfect themselves and to go to a higher plane, but who have remained where they were or have gone backward since those days. Many of those young men and women who had very, good teaching under some of the very masters couldnt grasp it.
There will be a middle ground and homoeopathy will stand on the middle ground to take care of those that need more. We can really welcome these things because they are good. They are doing away with the drastic drugging, and I, for one, have no warfare with the Christian Scientists, outside of the fact that I cant accept their philosophy that there is no evil in the world.
In the grading of symptoms to determine their relative value and force for the selection of the curative remedy there are two grand divisions of symptoms, common and uncommon; this cleavage prevails from mind to body, mental and physical, from generals, those relating to organism as a whole, to particulars, those predicated of the organs or parts of the body.
Rumbling and noisy flatulence through whole abdomen with much impaired function of the gastro-intestinal tract and the liver; we need not be surprised to find long-standing constipation, heart stool with ineffectual urging to evacuate; desire for stool followed by painful constriction of anus; haemorrhage from rectum even after a soft stool. Grey. light coloured stools.
The complementary second remedy needed to clear the case was Lachesis, which ran pretty well through the first study. The mental symptoms were entirely removed by Stram., Lachesis later followed by Carbo veg. for incidental physical ailments that developed after.
While some acute conditions of disease may have been mitigated by chlorinization of water it has indisputably increased to an alarming degree many forms of chronic sickness, including the more alarming and difficult conditions such as Brights disease and cancer. For proof of the aforementioned statements we need only cite the reports of the various boards of vital statistics, State and Federal, showing the alarming increase of those diseases.
Supplements Bry. and Apis, and urges them on when they fail to do their work. May use it in synovitis, especially after exudation has taken place. Sulph. here produces absorption, and very rapidly too, especially in the knee. Doughy swelling front right knee, especially above patella; pain on pressure; cannot straighten it.
The latest achievements of the physicists, with their delicately developed instruments of precision, explains the increased power released by transmuting material into energy. The work of Crile and others have sensed and are revealing the more subtle and imponderable elements of life which operate to build the body organism and maintain it in all its manifold and complex affairs of existence.
A long painful list of symptoms must fail to hold interest, for such a list can easily be obtained in any of our many works on materia medica as the need may arise for it. In such a group of symptoms there is a lack of continuity and spirit that relegates it to the category of dead inanimate things.
About the most pronounced general feature of Ant. tart. is the state of weakness prevailing throughout its entire proving. Another prominent characteristic is the tendency to produce catarrhal conditions everywhere throughout the economy. While no mucous membrane is exempt to the action of the drug, the bronchial tubes and lungs are more markedly and more frequently affected than are those of other parts.
The first is the physiological phase, and this is related to both doctor and patient. The horror and depressing effects of a cancer diagnosis, right or wrong, is in itself, overwhelming in most cases. To the patient no hope remains, it is useless to try, the only concern left is to avoid as much suffering as he can and possibly prolong for a time a life already doomed.
TOXICOPHIS PUGNANS. Some of the symptoms met with were the result of poisoning, as in snake bite, one of which is recorded under Toxicophis-the virus of the moccasin snake-in Clarkes Dictionary, page 1448. After the bite of this serpent, if the victim lives, symptoms of pain and fever recur annually at exactly the same period for many years, with decreasing intensity each year.
Irritations and injuries occur in other parts of the body, such as those in the gastro- intestinal tract, faulty foods, indiscretions in eating, adulterated foods, from irritations produced by chlorine in the drinking water, and aluminum poisoning coming from the use of aluminum cooking utensils and from aluminum plates in the mouth, sometimes used by dentists.
