General [General] The causes of indigestion are change of diet, over-loading the stomach, too nutritious food, or food of bad quality; the usual symptoms are partial or total loss of appetite, suspension of rumination, distended bloated appearance of the abdomen, the breathing is hurried and at times accompanied with a grunting sound.
REMEDIES: Arsenicum, Nux vomica, Bryonia and Aconite. Arsenicum [Ars] Arsenicum may be given when the disease arises from food of bad quality, also where there is diarrhoea loss of strength.
Dose. Four drops night and morning. Nux vomica [Nux-v] Nux vomica is indicated if the diet has been too nutritious; bloated appearance of the abdomen; constipation. If there are general febrile symptoms, give Aconite alternately with the Nux vomica.
Dose. The same as directed for Arsenicum. Bryonia [Bry] Bryonia will be found useful when the disease arises from change of diet, and there is total loss of appetite.
Dose. The same as the preceding remedy.
