COUGH.
DRY COUGH –
Constant, dry cough, which Shakes the whole frame.
Constant insupportable tickling or itching in larynx and trachea, causing cough day and night.
Hacking cough, mostly at night, from tickling in trachea, Not waking him from sleep. (Heart disease.)
SPUTA – Loosened with difficulty.
Scanty and difficult.
Difficult glairy slime, mixed with black dots, or bloody.
Must be swallowed when loosened.
Green, purulent, blood-streaked, offensive.
Thick black blood.
Bright red frothy blood.
WORSE –
At night.
Morning after rising; day and night.
During sleep, but not awakening from sleep.
From over-straining the voice.
From yawning.
Pains worse from motion.
BETTER –
From external pressure.
Lying with head low.
LARYNX AND VOICE
Hoarseness from too much use of loud voice.
Voice deep, law; military men; conductors; preachers.
Hoarseness early in the morning.
RESPIRATION –
Oppression of chest with anguish and heat in head and face.
Dyspnea and anxiety when getting awake Asthma, with inclination to move about; looks as if dying.
Asthma from fatty heart.
SENSATIONS –
Head hot, body cool; face red.
Burning and rawness in chest, with severe cough.
Stitching, sore pains in chest and abdomen.
Much soreness in chest; ribs feel bruised.
SPECIAL –
Child cries before coughing.
Cough from cardiac lesion.
Whooping cough, child cries before cough. (Belladonna)
Hoarseness from over-use of voice; such as calling out of doors, public speaking, etc.
Pleurisy from mechanical injuries; bed lies too hard; must often change position.
