Therapeutics
A good expectorant in humid asthma and catarrhal affections of the respiratory organs. Has relieved severe bronchitis with free mucous expectoration, stitches in the chest, frontal headache, and dim vision. Cough worse evening and night with free expectoration of stringy mucus. Often used in chronic bronchorrhoea with very tenacious expectoration, with a feeling as if something should be torn loose, the patient clutching at the sternum; worse at night. Farrington commends the remedy in asthenopia when the eyes smart and burn, especially by artificial light. Injection and throbbing of the eyes, especially in canthi interni. It stands between Belladonna and Ruta.
